Article: Beer on the Beach

I’ve sometimes felt that sitting at a restaurant and ordering a mass-produced Victoria Bitter alongside a hand-crafted gnocchi or grilled-to-perfection steak was a bit out of place.
If the food is a cutom affair why not the beer?
Thankfully we’re spoiled for micro-breweries in these parts with plenty of pubs offering hand-crafted beers specially brewed to complement food.
The Sail and Anchor is where it all started and has been going strong for more than 20 years, then there’s the Mad Monk Cafe and of course Little Creatures is now world-famous for pouring some of the finest beers around, including its zesty Pale Ale.
For a while now I’ve noticed a sign over North Fremantle’s Salt on the beach proclaiming its Blacksalt brewery is now pouring, and boasting it is “probably Australia’s first nano-brewery”.
I’m a big fan of uncertainlty in advertising; it comes acreoss as nicely humble in a , “we didn’t actually Google this” sort of way.

I just wanted to say thanks to your team for helping us have a wonderful hen’s party at Salt on Saturday.
Brett and the other staff really had a genuine want to ensure it was a success, and it was! They made sure that we are all comfortable and happy in a very easy going manner.
It was the perfect atmosphere for us; fun, sunny, happy and relaxed!
One of the girls is already thinking about booking her 30th there ? This email was to thankyou and say it was noticed as unfortunately such a place is hard to find these days!

Thanks for a wonderful evening- everyone had a really good time! The only gripe that people seemed to have was that the steak was a little tough and mains were served unevenly on tables. I had the fish which was amazing and everyone raved about the dessert! A big thanks to you and Natasha and your staff for a great evening, my glass was never empty, the atmosphere was great, we will definitely be recommending you to clients!!

I wanted to thank you both and the floor staff, for our Christmas luncheon last week, our staff and Directors really enjoyed the location and the service.
The food was delicious, I am sure you will have a few regular patrons from our group, throughout 2010 since experiencing the luncheon.
I apologies for not making contact sooner, getting the group on the bus an keeping track of our equipment made for a hectic exit. I am sure you are very busy this week also, time is slipping away in the lead up to Christmas!

While I have you, I wanted to make special mention to Marcus who took care of us all night, nothing was too much trouble, he was professional and extremely courteous. We think he deserves a huge pat on the back and a bonus in his pay! He was fantastic and all our staff commented on it to me throughout the night so well done to Marcus.

I’d like to thank you and your staff at Salt for helping me organise an awesome 30th party on Saturday. The venue was perfect, the live music was fantastic, weather turned out great, and the wait-staff were very helpful and attentive but not obtrusive.
A special thanks to David who helped me set up the party area and was happy to accede to my numerous requests. He was very organised, flexible and did a bang up job keeping things running smoothly.
All in all I had a (mostly) unforgettable day. Salt remains one of my favourite spot in Perth and, after this experience, I’ll definitely recommend it to friends for future functions. Please pass this message on to your staff and to David, and I’m sure I’ll be back during the summer.

To ‘The Manager’,
I had dinner at Salt on the Beach on a Wednesday night a few weeks ago and I just wanted to write to inform you of how pleased I was with all aspects of the evening.
I must admit that at first we were a bit reluctant to go as we had read and heard of bad reviews. Nevertheless we thought we’d give it a try and we’re both very glad that we did!
Most importantly I wanted to point out that our waitress, Debra was delightful. She was very helpful, seemed to know what she was talking about when we asked her advice and when I was not sure on which wine I should have she offererd to let me try the two I was deciding between. I found her service to be above and beyond. I often go out for dinner and I must say that I’ve never had a waitress as friendly and efficient as Debra.
Both during and after our meal we were asked if our meal was ok - which I value very highly. At the end of our meal our plates were not whisked away from under us the second we took our last bite - instead we were asked nicely if we were ready for our plates to be taken away or not. I felt the staff were very attentive and ‘in tune’ with what was going on around them.
The food was amazing - neither of us could find fault with any part of the meal. I ordered steak (medium) with mushroom sauce and asked for chips as opposed to the potato mash - the steak was cooked perfectly and when the meal first came out they had forgotten the chips but the waitress remembered straight away, apologised and a very short time later a whole bowl of chips arrived. My friend was also extremely impressed with her meal - she had fish which she said was ‘to die for’.
The atmosphere was also very pleasant. The lights were just right, the music was lovely and the candles on the table were a nice touch.
All in all it was a fantastic meal and experience. I will definitely be back and will recommend to all my friends and family. I imagine it would be a great place for a funtion too and I will definitely keep it in mind.
Please pass on to Debra how impressed we were with her service - she made the night.
